Race In El Cajon, March 24, 2001

First up, there was amateur 4 in. NASCAR. After computer problems were solved the race went smoothly. In First was Jason Holmes with 298 laps, then came Jonathan Forsyth 15 feet behind in second with 298 laps, third was Mike Hudson with 297, next was John Estopellan in forth with 296, Fifth was Earl Wilson with 295. Places six thru thirteenth were Richard Estopellan, Paul Sterrett with TQ, Richard Heisel, Jim Maher, Gene Martin, Chuck Connelly, Doug Lyons, and Ron Esau. Due to computer problems lap totals were hand counted at end of race to determine winner.

Second of the day, was expert 4 in NASCAR. After one heat Duran held a 1 lap lead over Chuck who had 2 on Ira and Steve. Followed by Gil, Roy, and Dave. After four heats Duran had 165 laps, Chuck 155, Steve 152, Roy 147, Ira 142, Gil 141, and Dave 126. To the end of the race the places stayed the same with Duran at 320, Chuck 317 and TQ, Steve 309, Roy 299, Ira 239, Gil 178, and Dave 154.

The third race of the day was 4 1/2 in NASTRUCKS. Amateur and expert raced together. A field of nine ran a round robin. Lap totals saw Gil Rivera winning this race hands down with 327 laps, followed by Roy Hood with 315 and TQ. First amateur up was Mike Hudson 310, followed by Steve Forsyth in expert third with 305, Chuck Panno 303, second amateur Tim Hould at 300, third amateur Paul Sterrett at 239, and Ira Stroker who had many problems and pulled out after two heats was sixth in expert.

After a short lunch sign ups for GT-1 and GT-12 were taken results as follows. Forth race of the day, GT-1 amateur, a field of 12 signed up and a round robin was run. The winner was Jonathan Forsyth with 332 and TQ, followed by Jason Holmes 331, Mike Hudson in third 328, Clint Baze 318, Earl Wilson 317, Tim Hould 312 in sixth, Dave Yantis, Jim Maher, Ron Esau, Sal Hernandez, Paul Sterrett, and Gene Martin round out the field.

Race five of the day was GT-1 expert.  A field of six hit the line. After the first heat we saw Panno and Trujillo ready to do battle again with 45 laps, Rivera and Stroker three laps back at 42, Forsyth at 37, and Hood with major problems at 20. After four heats Trujillo had stretched the lead on Panno to six and Panno had 9 on Rivera, followed by Steve Forsyth, Stroker, and Hood getting close to calling it a day. Final results Trujillo 373, Panno 358 and TQ, Rivera second podium of the day in third with 347, Stroker 327, Forsyth 322, and Roy (Paul I bent my flexi) Hood with 129.

Race six of the day. GT-12 am. A small field of six came to play for this class. After the first heat Jason (My Daddy) with 47 followed by Jonathan 45, Sam 43, Earl 42, Chuck Connolly 38, and Tim with problems at 23. After four heats things settled down Jason 192, Jonathan 186, Sam 170, Earl 162, Tim 142, and Chuck pulling out with 72. In the fifth heat Jason had problems and let Jonathan come back to take a 1 lap lead but in the end it was Jason with 371 and TQ, Jonathan 359, Sam 314, Tim 308, Chuck coming back with 188, and Earl now having problems with 107.

The seventh and last race of the day was GT-12 expert. Seven cars came to the line and after the first heat it was Duran with 51, Monty with 49, Jason (who said you could play twice Daddy?) with 48, then Chuck 47, Steve and Gil 42, and Roy 29. To the forth heat and many lead changes later Chuck 203, Jason 195, Duran 192, Steve 177, Monty 168, Roy 136, Gil 120. Your race final after a few cars breaking and lead changes Duran 400, Chuck 391 and TQ, Monty 372, Jason 368, Steve 358, Roy 309, and Gil 230.
