Saturday morning April 20, 2002 coffee
brewing, donuts bought, and slot racers here to play. A special
thanks to Jimmy Donna for providing an awesome spread of BBQed hamburgers
and hot dogs for lunch and to Frank, Wayne, and Chuck for having
the place up and ready to run. This King Cobra Track is fast and
fun! Lets get to the races.
AM 4 in Nascar: Nineteen
signed up for this race so we ran the favorite: round robin semi's.
The B Semi results were Jerry Johnson 200 laps, Casey Scott 197,
Earl Wilson 189, Joe "Wing Racer" Chevy 189. Those were
our 4 moving to the main followed by Mike Griffin, Ron Esau, Jody
Freund, Aaron Masterson, and Joey Hudson. A Semi results, local
Randy Crippen 194 laps, Lars Wolfe 191, Alex Freund 187, Dennis
"traveling man" Rios 186 those four moved to the main.
Followed by Dan Wise, Mike Jacobson, Paul Abbey, Gene Martin, Phil
Phillips, and Chuck Connelly. As we lined up for the main with tech
complete at the end of the first heat we had a three way tie Lars,
Jerry, and Alex turning 38 laps close behind was Casey 37, Joe,
Randy, and Dennis 36, and Earl 35. After two heats still very close
racing four laps separated 1st through 8th. Casey, Alex, and Jerry
your top three with 75. After four heats Casey had a one lap lead
over Jerry who had four over Earl and Dennis. After six heats Casey
230, Jerry 224, Earl, Dennis, and Joe 221, Lars 220, Ale and Randy
212. In the end Casey proved to tough for everyone winning
with 308 laps. Jerry 298, Joe 295, beating Lars by feet with 295,
Earl 293, Dennis 292, Alex 285, and Randy with problems 234. As
you can see very close racing if that fast kid from Monrovia wouldn't
have ran off and hid. Good job guys!
EX 4 in Nascar: Ten experts
signed up for this race so it's back to round robin. Letting everyone
come in for a few laps and getting adjusted to the track it looks
like the cars to beat were going to be quite a few. After five heats
Durran Trujillo 227 and Roy Hood 226 were your leaders. After eight
heats Roy Hood set the mark to beat with 303 laps. It looked like
the ones to chase him were Durran, Chuck Panno, and Paul Sterrett.
In the end it was Durran 303, feet ahead of Roy with 303, then came
Chuck 299, sections ahead of Paul 299, Chris Radisich 297, sections
ahead of Mike Hudson 297, then Dennis Hill 285, Steve Forsyth 265,
Gil Rivera 264, and my slow dad with 207... that's like 100 laps
behind the leader... and they think he's an expert! Something tells
me he should trade with Casey.... but that's just my opinion.
AM 4.5 Nascar: Five cars
came to the line and after the first heat you had Jerry Johnson
and Jody Freund with 34, Keith Dancy and Randy Crippen 33, Alex
Freund 32. After three heats Jerry had 107, a five lap lead over
Jody and Keith two laps behind. After six heats Jerry decided
to run off and hide with 216 laps Jody 203, Keith 200, Alex 193,
Randy 191. In the end Jerry was your winner with 288 laps followed
by Keith beats Jody by sections with 266 laps Alex beats Randy by
sections with 258 laps. Good close racing!
EX 4.5 Nascar: Seven cars
came to the line and after the first heat Mike Hudson and Durran
Trujillo 37, Jason Holmes and Paul Sterrett 36 laps, Chris Radisich
35, Dennis Hill 34, Gil Rivera 31. After two Durran 73, Mike and
Chris 73, Paul and Jason 71, Gil 67, Dennis 66. After three Durran
and Chris 108, Paul 106, Mike and Jason 104 (do you have to be tied
with everyone?), Dennis and Gil 101, this looks like it's shaping
up to be a real battle. After five heats Durran 182, Chris 181,
Mike 178, Paul 176, Jason 173, Gil 172, Dennis 170. In the end Durran
is your winner with 293 laps, followed by Chris 292, in third Mike
291. What an awesome race, fourth Paul 280, Jason 276 (not quite
top three... but your at least in the top 5.. even if it is out
of 7!), Gil 268, and Dennis 264.
AM G-T 1: Twelve cars entered
this race so its back to the joys of round robin land. Jerry Johnson
turned high lap with 43, followed by Casey Scott 41, Dennis Rios
40, those were your top three after one. After three it was still
Jerry, followed by Casey, then Dennis. Then the sit-outs came. After
five your heat winner was Casey with 42 laps and a total of 203.
After eight heats Jerry Johnson turned 42 laps to win that heat
and in the ninth heat turned 43 to back it up at the end of the
race it was Casey beating Jerry on the same lap with 330, Alex Freund
beating Earl Wilson on the same lap with 310 followed by Phil Phillips
309, Dennis Rios 308, Jody Freund 295, Dan Wise 292, Mike Jacobson
291, Paul Abbey, Charlie Colvin, and Bob Abbey rounding out the
field. Fast times for the race were Casey and Jerry 4.0072 now that's
close same laps and same fast time!
EX G-T 1: Thirteen cars
came to the line which means we're running another round robin..
isn't that so annoying for you guys? Chuck Panno and Steve Forsyth
were your heat leaders with 42. Mike Hudson and Roy Hood with 41,
Mike Stuart 39, Chris Radisich 38, Paul Sterrett 35, and Dennis
Hill with major issues. After two it was Chuck 84, Mike H. and Roy
83, Steve 81. After a good heat on white Chuck stretched his lead
to five laps over Mike H. and then sit out time has come upon us.
Your heat winner in the fourth heat was Mike H. with 44 laps, in
the fifth it was Mike H. with 45 laps with Chuck out Mike decided
to put the pressure on and now it's time for Mike to sit out, letting
Alan Ohren and Steve tie for the lead with 43. No impressive lap
totals were turned in the seventh heat but in the eighth heat Mike
S. and Chris each turned 43. In the ninth heat Roy Hood and Durran
both turned 43 laps leading the heat. In the tenth heat speed
crazed Chuck Panno turned high laps with 45 and a top time of the
race with a 3.835 on green wy to go Crazy! When it came to the end
Mike H. was your winner with 341 laps followed by Crazy Chuck with
340, Alan with 335, Durran 334, Roy 330, then Chris, Steve,
Jason (slow poke), Paul, Jonathan, Mike S., Dennis Hill, and Gil
Rivera with heaka a lot of issues.
AM G-T 12: Only eight cars
came out for this race. After the first heat Jerry Johnson rips
off 47 laps to lead Alex Freund 43, Casey Scott and Earl Wilson
42, Dennis Rios 41, Joey Hudson another traveler from Santa Maria
39, Paul Abbey 35, and Phil Phillips 26. After two Jerry 89, then
Alex, Earl, and Casey. After three heats it's Jerry with 137, Casey,
139, and Alex 129. After four Jerry 184, Casey 179, and Alex
174. After the fourth heat my dad said Alex needed more horsepower
and tried to help out but it was still Jerry, Casey, and Alex after
the fifth with Jerry and Alex turning in quick times with 3.460.
In the sixth heat Alex started to make his move on Casey but Jerry
continued to move out of reach. In the seventh Alex made a big move
and put six laps on Casey and moved into second but he was
still seven behind Jerry in first, followed by Earl, Dennis, Joey,
and Paul. At the end of the race Jerry was your winner with 365
laps, Alex 358, Casey 354, Earl 340, Dennis 326, Joey 311, Phil
302, and Paul 291. Looks ike my dad didn't come through soon enough
for Alex maybe next time.
EX G-T 12: Eleven cars
came to the line in this race and things were fast and furious and
the crash-fest was on. After the first heat Durran Trujillo
and Alan Ohren turned 49 laps, Jason Stone 47, Jonathan Forsyth
46, Mike Hudson and Chris Radisich 45, Chuck Panno and Monty Ohren
44. After two heats Durran 99, Alan 98, that's right Durran turned
a 50 on blue the high heat of the race but Alan but up respectable
49's for a few more heats to come. They were followed by Mike H.,
Jonathan, and Chuck 91, Jason S. and Chris 90, and Steve turning
40 in his first heat. In the third heat my dad and Alan were lap
leaders with 49. In the fourth heat it was Mike H. and Alan with
49. In the fifth it was Mike H. with 48. Come the sixth heat it
was Roy Hood and Alan with 48, with Alan turning a 3.413 on yellow
for fast time of the race. In the seventh heat Alan once again turned
48. In the eighth heat it was Jonathan and Alan with 47. In the
ninth it was Jonathan and my dad with 48, in the tenth it was Roy
with 47. In the final heat it wa Jason S. the heat winner with 48,
but your race winner was Alan with 382 laps, followed by Roy
372, Jonathan 363, Mike H. 362, Chris 360, then Jason H., Steve,
Jason S., Monty, and Duran with problems rounding out the field.
These cars are hecka fast and maybe we should think about running
them first next year so that turn marshals reflexes are sharper...
but that's just a thought expressed to me by the one and only...
but what does he know he can't even win a race!
Okie Dokie, a special thanks to Santee
Model Raceway for having their track up and running so we could
come down and play and to Jimmy for the great eats! See ya in a
few months.
