Scale Round 6 Buena Park Raceway June 22 2002

It’s Saturday June 22, 2002 at Buena Park Raceway. Coffee is brewing the donuts are here and the tracks are in great shape. Now we’re ready to play!

4 in Nascar AM:
Eighteen entries so we’re running semi’s. First off is the B Semi. A nine man round robin, (yay!) after the first heat Sam Rackham 25, Jody Freund & Casey Scott 24, Jerry Johnson 23, Joey Hudson, Brian Johnson, and Richard Estopellan 22, Paul Abbey 20. After two heats Mike Jacobson coming in on red turns 22. Your race leader is Sam with 49, Jody 48, Casey 47, Brian 46, Joey 43, then Paul and Jerry with big problems. In the fourth heat Jody takes the lead with 97, Sam 96, Brian 91, Joey 90, then Paul, Casey, Richard, Mike, and Jerry. At the end those making the move Sam with 193, Casey 192, Jody 185, Joey 185, those are the four that moved to the main, then Mike 184, Richard 175, Brian 172, Paul 162, and Jerry 157. On to the A Semi at the end of the first heat your leaders are “lil” Alex Fruend 25, Newcomer Todd Selland, John Estopellan, and Lars Wolfe 23, Phil Phillips and Cliff Kendrick 22, Dennis Rios 19, Bob Abbey 14.  Another newcomer Jimmy Ross comes in on red and turns 23, these new guys knows what they’re doing! Alex still leads with 49, John, Todd, and Lars 47, Phil 45, Dennis 41, and then Bob. After five it’s Alex with 122, Phil 114, Dennis 111, John 106, Jimmy 107, Todd 92, then Cliff, Lars, and Bob. At the end it’s Alex winning with 195, Jimmy 193, Todd 186, Lars making the move with 178, sections behind are Phil and Dennis with 178 a tight race for the last move up. Then John 176, and Bob 126. It’s time for the main! Starts out looking like a good close race newcomer Todd turns 39, close behind are Casey, Alex, and Sam, with 38, Cliff 36, Jimmy 35, Jody 33 and Joey 32. After the second heat Alex still hangs on by one with 76, Casey 75, Sam 74, Jimmy 72, Cliff and Todd 71, Todd had problems on red, then Jody and Joey. After three Alex and Casey 113, Sam 112, Jimmy, Todd, and Cliff 108, Jody 104, and Joey 99. After 6 heats Alex starts to stretch in out with 229, Sam 225, Casey 222, Cliff 219, Todd 216, Jimmy 215, then Joey followed by Jody who pulls out with major problems. In the end Alex (I’m not so sure if he’s little) winning with 304, Sam 300, Casey 298, Cliff 293, Jimmy 290, Todd 288, Joey 255, and Jody.

4 in Nascar EX:
Ten cars came to the line so once again it’s wonderful round robin time! After the first heat Mike Hudson, Durran Trujillo, and Gil Rivera 38, Paul Sterrett 37, Roy Hood, Jason Holmes, and Chris Radisich 36, and Jonathan Forsyth 24. In the start of the first heat Jonathan tried to take out half the field in the bank… almost worked Jonathan! In the second heat Greg Gilbert came in on red and turned 38, your race leader is Gil with 77, Duran 76, Mike 74, Paul 73, Jason 71, Roy 70, and Jonathan with 57. Steve Forsyth comes in on red for heat three and turns a 38, your race leader is Gil with 115, Durran 113, Paul 112, Mike 111, Roy 110, then Jonathan, Greg, and Steve. After 6 heats Paul Sterrett gets the call with 259, Gil 254, Greg, Chris, Durran, Mike, Steve, and Jason (in last place). In the end Greg turns 310 to win it after a long USRA layoff, followed by Durran 305, Chris 304, Mike 301, Roy 300, Paul 297, Gil 292, Steve 279, Jason 273, and Jonathan DNF.

4.5 in Nascar AM:
Seven cars came out to play meaning NO round robin! Your first heat leader is Alex with 36, close behind are Jody and John with 35, Jerry and Richard 34, Mike and Henry Trujillo 33. Looks like a tight race. In the second heat things really get close. Alex, Richard, Jody, and John 69, Henry 68, Jerry 67, Mike 65. After three it’s John and Jody 104, the lead keeps changing, Alex, Richard, and Jerry 102, Henry 101, and Mike 99. After four John 139, Jody 138, Alex 137, Henry 135, Mike 134, Richard has problems on black 132. After 5 heats a new leader it’s Jody with 174, John 173, Alex 172, Jerry 171, Mike 169, Henry 167, Richard 161. In the end John wins it with 278, Alex and Jody 275, Mike and Jerry 274, Henry 268, Richard 242 with problems. This was one close car race!

4.5 in Nascar EX:
Eight cars came to the line. After the first heat Durran with 37, Large Car Paul 36, Chris, Gil, and Greg 35, Jason and Mike 34, Jonathan 33. In the third heat Durran tries to pull away with 109, Greg 106, Mike 104, Paul, Chris, and Gil 103, and Jason and Jonathan. After 5 heats Durran 182, Greg 179, Mike 173, Chris and Paul 172, Jonathan 170. In the 7th heat Greg tires to make it closer, Durran 255, Greg 253, Chris moves into 3rd with 246, Mike and Paul 243, Jonathan 240, followed by Jason and Gil. In the end Durran holds on to win 292, a hard charging 2nd Greg 291, Chris makes the podium with 282, Paul 278, Jonathan 277, Mike 276, Jason 274, and it just wasn’t Gil’s day.

GT-1 AM:
Eleven cars came out to race meaning round robin time again. Casey jumps out on top after the first heat with 42, Cliff and Alex with 40, Joey 39, Dennis and Phil 38, Paul 26, and Mike 18. After 2 Cliff 79, Dennis 78, Joey 76, Casey and Alex 74, Mike 59, Paul, Phil, and Bob trail. Jerry Johnson comes in on red for the third heat and turns 39 laps, Dennis is your race leader with 117, Casey and Cliff 113, Joey 112, Mike 93, Phil 85, and Bob rounded out this heat. After 7 heats Mike and Joey have problems and pull out. After 10 heats Jerry puts up the number to beat 325. At the end he holds on to win it, Alex in 2nd with 322, Dennis 315, then Cliff 311, Casey 301, Brian 269, then Phil, Paul, Bob, Joey, and Mike.

GT-1 EX:
Once again 11 cars come to the line. After the 1st heat it looks like it’s going to be tight Durran 44, Alan Ohren 44, Greg 44, Jonathan 43, Steve 42, Gil 40, My Dad “slowpoke” 38. After three heats Durran and Greg have to battle it out 130 a piece, Jonathan 125, Alan 123, then Gil, Jason, Paul, and Mike. In the 5th heat Greg has major problems, in the 6th Gil pulls out. After 10 heats Mike Hudson puts up a large 350 to shoot at, can anyone bring him down? In the end Durran comes up one lap shy with 349, in 3rd Alan 343, Chris 341, then Roy, Steve, Jason, Paul, Jonathan, Greg, and Gil.

GT-12 AM:
Eleven fast cars take the line. In the first heat Jerry shows he’s not going to pull any punches and turns 48, Brian 46, Sam and Bob Gonder 45, Dennis 43, Paul 39, Joey with problems 31, and Cliff fails to make the line. In the second heat Alex comes in on red and turns 42, Jerry stretches the lead over Bob, followed by Sam, Dennis, Paul, Joey, and Cliff pull out. In the 3rd heat Casey comes in and turns a mighty 47 on red. But Jerry continues to lead by 5 laps over Bob, then Dennis, Paul, Alex, and Casey. In the 4th your last competer comes in on red Phil turns 44, Jerry continues to lead on 184, Bob gets closer 182, Dennis hangs on with 175. In the 5th heat Dennis goes down in flames. In the 6th your race average leader Casey retires with at bent car. On to heat number 11, Jerry pulls off the win with 372, Bob 367, Alex 365, Sam 351, Phil 345, then Brian, Dennis, Paul, Casey, Joey, and Cliff.

GT-12 EX:
 It’s time to bring out the real horsepower 11 cars go to the line. In the first heat Durran leads with 49, Greg 47, Jason and Jonathan 46, Roy 45, Jason Stone 43, Alan 42, Mike 38. Durran after two heats 98, Jason “my dad”, Roy, and Greg 95, Jason S. 91, Jonathan 87, Paul 42, Mike pulls out. In the 3rd heat my dad, Jonathan, and Mike have problems. After 6 heats Greg Gilbert comes back in and turns 50 laps on red. Roy Hood is the race leader at this time followed by Paul, Steve, Greg, Alan, and Chris. Moving on to the 9th heat we’ll give Paul Sterrett a call with 350, Steve 317, then Durran, Greg, Alan, Jason S., Chris, and My dad. In the end Durran wins with 382, Alan just needed one more heat he comes up short with 380, then the problem people Jason S. 362, Roy 360, Steve 358, Chris 357, Paul, Jason, Greg, Jonathan, and Mike round out the field.
