Spray Glue Group 12
Fully ½ of the field of 8 held the lead at one time or another during the course of the race. It was BP local Evan McKee, Monty (BOW) Ohren, Casey Scott and that racing lawyer, David Aikens trading the lead back and forth for the first 5 heats. But it was David making the big move. David was down in the 4th spot and 11 laps behind the leader after 5 heats. David made up 9 laps in heat 6 running on the green lane and then moved into the lead by 1 lap over Monty after 7 heats. David would open his lead in the final heat to win the race by 8 laps over Casey, with Monty fading to 3rd. Earl Wilson, Evan McKee, Brian Johnson, Jim Barnett and Cliff Kendrick were the other racers.

Group 12
After a bit of the old liquid traction was added, there were 11 racers ready for tech. It was Jim Swofford with the fast time of 2.605. Bill Pinkston and scale racer Mike Hudson with a rare wing car appearance qualified 2nd and 3rd.

When the race got started it was Chuck Frederick and Cliff Kendrick leading on the average. But as is normal in these round robin style races, it was the late sitouts that were to be the main players. Pinkston and Swofford were the last 2 racers in and it was a very close race with Swofford leading Pinkston by less than ½ a lap on the averages. It would not be until heat 10 that Bill would slip past and into the lead. Bill was done at this point and he would have to watch as Jim lined up to take his best shot. But Jim would come up 2 laps short and settled for the second spot. Jason Holmes and Pat Ularte would race for the final podium spot until the 9th heat when Jason started laying down the big numbers and pulled away. Pat was now running in the bottom gutters and would be unable to respond, leaving Jason to take 3rd with Pat claiming 4th. Mike Hudson, Chuck Frederick, Brian Johnson, Dale Garcia, Lin Hammond, Cliff Kendrick and David Aikens were the other racers.

Cobalt 12
A full field of 8 signed up and it was Chuck Frederick taking the 7 point for TQ with a lap of 2.193. Rich Humphrey and Mike Graverson were 2nd and 3rd.

SoCal “commander in chief” Jason Holmes managed to get orange lane for the first heat and used this to his advantage and finished the first heat 1 lap up on the field. Phil Larcom would take over the lead in heat 2 and stretch the lead out to as many as 17 laps at the end of 6 heats. Phil dropped in a new motor as he moved to the red lane for heat 7. This was to be a bad decision. Phil managed to get to 40 laps before it blew up. Phil’s misfortune would allow Mike Graverson to take the lead with Jason and Bill Pinkston moving into 2nd and 3rd. Mike would hold on to win by 3 laps over Jason and 4 over Bill. Phil was able to hang on to 4th with Chuck Frederick, Brian Johnson, Rich Humphrey and Jim Swofford trailing behind.

One Motor Open
Mike Graverson and Mickey each took a turn in the lead in the first 2 heats, but it was Pat Ularte taking the lead in heat 3. Mike’s 97 lap heats were turning out to be not enough as Pat, Mickey and Jason Holmes were laying down a bunch of 100+ lap heats to leave him behind. Pat would hold a small lead over Mickey and Jason who would swap the 2nd and 3rd spots 3 times with Jason finally prevailing in that battle. Mike held onto 4th with Phil Larcom, Monty Ohren, Gil Gunderson and John Tore Anderson rounding out the field.
