Race Reports by Mike Aguirre

Spray Glue G-12
This first race of the year had 18 racers entered, which I believe is a new record. Early heats were complicated with crashes as racers strived to show their stuff. In this 18 heat round robin the racers showing good performance were Marco Salvino, Joe Chevy, and Kenny Richins. Both Joe and Kenny had slight issues in their second heats but ran well otherwise. Race leader was Marco Salvino who going into the last heat had it over Joe but was foiled by a mechanical in the heat! Marco did come back for third overall thus giving Joe the top step on the podium who was followed by Kenny. This race also saw Mike Graversen's granddaughter Madison join the action and she did just fine, will she be doing opens?

Group 12
Sixteen racers went through tech for this race thus setting up 2 semis.

The 'B' semi had Mickey Johnston leading the first 2 heats but an issue in the 3rd put Adam K. in the lead with Joe Chevy up by 1 over Mickey and Dale Garcia. Heat 4 saw Mickey take back the lead and never let go. Top 4 moving up were Mickey, Joe Chevy, Richard Curnutte, and Sam Rackham.

The 'A' semi was a run-away by Jim Swofford who led every heat. Chris Radisich was hanging tough in second for most of the race but late race issues dropped him to forth with Bill Pinkston taking second, Kenny Richins third.

The Main
Driving force Jim Swofford was again putting it to everyone with Richard Curnutte, Bill Pinkston, and Kenny Richins following, but in heat seven all went bad for Jim and took him out of contention. Mickey who took the 'B' semi was hit with problems and was never able to make a real attack. With Jim having problems it was a win for Richard Curnutte followed by Bill Pinkston, one lap back for 3rd was Kenny Richins.

One Motor Open SemiPro
Two of our young guns took a small early lead with Bryan Struck leading Josh Bauer by just a lap. After that Josh went to the choke hard and opened a big lead on the field. Unfortunately Josh would run out of motor brushes in the last heat and drop to 3rd. Joe Lisciandro would come through for the win 19 laps ahead of Bryan.

One Motor Open, Pro
Mike Graversen took the early lead over a field of 10 racers. Mike was challenged only briefly in the early going by Tore and Pat Ularte. These 2 fell away and Mike went on to take a 30-lap victory over Tore and 38 over Phil Larcom.

Group 7
Despite the late hour, we still managed to get a field of 9 for the G-7 race.

Forrest led the race early as the rest of the field suffered from various problems. In heat 7, Forrest got involved in someone else's wreck and dropped behind Mike Graversen on the average. Mike would hold on to take his second win of the weekend, with Forrest taking 2nd and Pat Ularte finishing 3rd.

Track Calls
We managed to get 61 entries for the weekend with 23 different racers running G-7 type cars.
In Spray Glue G-12 we managed to get 18 entries. This was the largest turnout for the class outside of the Western States. And we have guys wanting to drop this class!!!
