Spray Glue-12 We had 13
racers attend this months race with both Kenny Richins and Marco
Salvino in the action and fighting for the top spot. The opening
heat had some moments with Kenny having problems on red and only
getting 49 laps while 7 year old Brendan Aguirre wound up second
in the heat 54 laps to Adam K’s. 57. of note was the Brendan had
the fast time of the heat laying down a 2.740. Heat 2 had Brendan
leading but he had a spur problem and had to pit, Adam had a major
issue and could only get 18 laps. Kenny got rolling laying out 61
laps. Coming in on red was a new racer, 4 year old Gavin Aguirre
who was set-up by Richard Curnutte and Kenny with a beautiful car.
Gavin did 52 on red and a best of 2.910. This was a fun site to
watch and of interest was that Rich had Gavin running on choke so
he could get the laps done. Joe Chevy was running smooth and at
this point top of the pack. Marco came in at the fifth heat and
now we had all the heavies racing, Marco laid down 62 on red and
at this point Joe Chevy had problems on yellow only getting 45 laps.
Kenny was top in the overall and pulling away it seemed. Heat 6
looked good for Marco and Kenny had problems on yellow now but still
16 up on Joe. Bob Maxwell was rolling well and making some good
laps in his heats. For the 13 racers it seemed most everyone was
having a problem or too. After 9 heats it looked to be Marco on
average but the racing was not done. Gavin Aguirre finished his
racing with 317 laps and lots of smiles and laughs. As racing goes
it was heat 10 that gave Marco a problem and he only managed 16
laps which was going to take him off the podium it seemed. Bob Maxwell
was still charging and JB Barnett was racing hard as well. When
the power went off it was Kenny on top followed by Bob Maxwell and
Joe Chevy. Jb who finished 4th was DQ’ed for weight so Marco moved
up to 4th.
Boxstock Eight racers tech’ed
for racing and Kenny was on top after the first heat Adam K. was
second. Joe Chevy, Richard Curnutte, and Mike Aguirre all had first
heat problems not even getting in the 50 lap range. Heat 2 was still
showing the same racers at the top with the others now chasing hard.
Problems did continue for Joe C. and Joe L. was not making any headway
either. The race was still being dominated by Kenny who was very
consistent. Heat 4 was bad for Jason Holmes as he only ran 31 laps.
The top 3 was now Kenny, Adam K. and Mike. Racing continued to be
fast and clean Jason was still plagued with problems as was Joe
C. Heat 7 saw the top 3 change as Mike had problems and now Richard
Curnutte was in 3rd 2 laps up on Mike. The last heat saw Richard
have problems and only getting 54 on yellow while Mike laid down
63 on green thus moving back to 3rd as the power went off. Kenny
finished with 500 but was DQ’ed for weight thus putting Adam K.
on the top step followed by Mike, and Richard.
OMO - Am 7 racer were at
the start for this race and Josh Bauer was on a roll doing 105 on
red in heat one. This put him in first over Bryan Struck and Rick
Elting. As the heats rolled on it was Josh on top after every heat
pulling away. Bryan had problems in heat 2 and could only chase
while Rick and Kenny seemed to be the only ones that could give
Josh a challenge. Other racers Joe L., Mike A. and Jason Holmes
seemed to be getting more pit practice than racing. As the race
went down it was Josh on top followed by Rick and Kenny. Joe L.
pulled it back together to get 4th as Bryan was hampered with late
race problems.
OMO - Pro 9 racers went
for this event and off hard and fast was Rick Salvino and Pat Ularte
doing 109/107 respectively. Forrest and John Tore were the only
other over 100 in heat one. Mickey was running well and found himself
in a 3 way tie with Forrest and Pat after 2. Racing was pretty clean
and fast until heat 4 where Pat, Mike Graversen, Bill Taylor, and
Richard Curnutte all had issues. We now saw Rick Salvino on
top with 408 by one over John Tore who was one up on Mickey. Heat
5 was good for Forrest who ran 111 with John tore doing 110 on White.
After 6 it was Salvino leading but Forrest was making big laps on
green 110, then 112 on blue, and 106 on purple. John Tore was doing
pretty much the same and in the last heat laying down 116 on blue.
So when the power went off it was Forrest, John Tore, and Rick Salvino
making the podium. Good job guys.
G-7 Big dog had 8 racers
giving it a go. Randy Thompson lit it up and took the first heat
followed by Boola Mike. Forrest went up 5 over Mike in heat 2 with
Richard third and Randy had a problem. The lead stayed this way
until heat 4 where Forrest ran into trouble a gave the lead to Mike
but was only 3 down from him. Richard went into the lead in heat
5 with Mike 4 back. Heat 6 was the same with the chasers being Rick
Salvino, and Kenny. Gil, Randy and John Tore all having big troubles
unfortunately. Forrest was tied for the lead after 7 with Richard
and Mike was only 4 back. The last heat was great as Forrest was
on purple and Richard on black both fighting for the win. When the
dust settled it was Forrest up by one over Richard for the win,
Mike finished 3rd.
